When auditing locks using certain older software, it is only possible to process the downloaded audit in the following ways:

  • The audit can be saved as a .log file, which can only be read by the relevant audit software
  • The audit can be printed

Email the .log file

If it is necessary to share a downloaded audit with another electronically, the .log file can be emailed, and the recipient would need to install the relevant audit software to read it.

It is advisable for the .log file to be compressed to prevent mail filters blocking it as an attachment.

Print audit to PDF

Alternatively, the contents of the audit shown in the print view can be printed to a PDF. file.

If the computer in use is running Windows 10, there is inbuilt functionality. When an audit has been downloaded, click Print, and select Microsoft Print to PDF from the list of available printers. A save dialogue box will pop up allowing the printed audit to be saved as a PDF.

If the computer is running an older operating system it is possible to print to PDF using third party software. Several free options are available, we recommend Cute PDF.

Visit Cute PDF here, and click free download.

The file will download to either the downloads folder or another location depending on your browser. Locate the file CuteWriter.exe and double click it.

Follow the onscreen instructions to install the software and printer.

In the lock audit software, once the audit has downloaded, click Print, then select Cute PDF Writer from the list of available printers. A save dialogue box will pop up allowing the printed audit to be saved as a PDF.
